Delete your Inkece account

Your records are yours to take away or have removed. There are two ways to delete an account: from inside Inkece, which takes a minute, or by asking us, if you cannot sign in. Either works from the website or the Android app.

Take a copy first if you want one — a complete export of everything you can see is in the same place, on every plan.

If you can sign in

  • Sign in to Inkece, on the website or in the Android app.
  • Open Settings, then Privacy & data.
  • Choose Delete my account and type your password to confirm. The password is what stops a borrowed phone ending somebody else’s account.

It happens at once, and it cannot be undone. If you are the person who set up a household that still has a partner in it, your partner has to leave the household first — somebody has to stay accountable for the shared records.

If you cannot sign in

Write to admin@inkece.co.za from the address on the account, or use the contact form and choose “Delete my account”. Give the email address you registered with.

We answer within 24 working hours (Monday to Friday, 09:00–17:00 SAST). Before anything is removed we will tell you exactly what will go and ask you to confirm. We will not act on a request from anybody but the account holder — including somebody claiming to act for them — so a request from a different address will be asked to prove the account is theirs first.

What is deleted, and what is kept

Removed: your sign-in details, your devices and sign-in history, your notifications, your private records and the files you attached to them, and any statement waiting to be imported.

If your partner is still in the household, the shared records stay with the household, because deleting them would rewrite their history — their settled months, their budget. Your name is removed from them and your access ends. If nobody remains, the household and everything in it is deleted with you.

Kept, deliberately: where an operator has performed an action on an account — a refund, a manual erasure — the audit record of that action stays, because a record the person it concerns can delete is not an audit record. It holds the action, not your records.

Backups. The database is backed up nightly and the last fourteen encrypted snapshots are kept, so a deleted record disappears from the last backup that contains it within about two weeks.
